Belfast Giants legend looks ahead to big testimonial night on Sunday
Former Belfast Giants forward Colin Shields reckons it was only a matter of time before Adam Keefe’s jersey was retired.
The current coach will see his #47 jersey hung in the rafters in his testimonial, taking place this Sunday at the SSE Arena.
And Shields, who played with and under Keefe, says the honour goes beyond the trophy-laden success he’s had on and off the ice.
“It’s a massive honour for me to be up there and one of the biggest things in my career so I’m sure it will be the same for Adam as well,” Shields said on the latest edition of The Elite Podcast.
“I think it’s well deserved and the impact he’s had, not just on the ice but off it too, in the community, he’s so good with the fans.
“He speaks to kids from different backgrounds and you can see he has an impact on their lives so from a full body of work, he deserves this.
“It will be a nice moment for him and I think everyone just expected it. It was just a matter of time and I think this is a perfect moment to do it.”
