📰 Thursday News: Magic Mitch ready for more
Play-off hero back for another season for Stewart's men
Nottingham Panthers hero Mitch Fossier says he had a feeling the team could achieve something special after signing for them.
The man who scored the play-off final winner in that breathless game against Cardiff Devils last month has agreed to another season at the Motorpoint Arena and he couldn’t be happier.
“I don’t think that’s going to get old, being called a play-off winner,” he told Panthers TV’s Chris Ellis. “I’m super excited to come back and can’t wait to start the season.
“From the time I got there, it worked out really well and it was clicking. I’ve never known a season to get that well and I was so glad to be part of the organisation.
“I realised pretty quick that we could something with this team. There were different dynamics that were pretty strong and we went on from there.
“The play-off final was such a crazy game and I’ve never known a game to have those events happen. It was just ridiculous.
“I was so grateful to be part of it. I know how passionate the fans are for the team and it was cool to see what it meant. It was really special.”

☝️ BARROW SET FOR NEW LEASE OF LIFE UNDER THOMPSON
Cardiff Devils forward Ryan Barrow admits his game wasn’t what it should have been - but he’s looking forward to scaling the heights under new coach Paul Thompson.
The 28-year-old is back for a third season in South Wales, which was announced on Wednesday, as Devils continued to rebuild for the new campaign.
And Barrow was forthright in his own performances as he reflected on what was a mixed campaign for him and for Cardiff.
“Last year had its ups and downs,” he told Devils TV. “I definitely know I need to be better throughout the whole year.
“The start of the year was tough and then I got hurt, but I was happy at how I finished the year and into the play-offs, once I got over the injury.
“That was my standard of play and I feel like I need to play like that for the whole year. I enjoyed playing in the play-off types of games it suited me well.
“The style of play the new coach plays excites me and I’m really happy he’s going to be the coach here.
“It’s such a unique league so having a coach that’s had success is going to be really important and I’m looking forward to it.”

💪 MITCHELL-KING EXPECTING TOUGH SHIFT WITH CLAN
Glasgow Clan forward Austin Mitchell-King says he knows he’s in for a hard time under head coach Corey Neilson next season.
The 23-year-old joined the Braehead Arena side from Peterborough Phantoms a week ago, but has knows Neilson through coaching sessions when he was younger.
And Mitchell-King says he’s perfectly prepared for life under the Clan boss when he joins up with his new team later in the summer.
“Corey’s been around the coaching scene for a while now so hue knows what he wants from his players and how to develop younger guys coming through,” Mitchell-King told Aaron Murphy on Clan Chat.
“It was a no-brainer for me from a development point of things so I’m looking forward to getting started with Corey.
“I know he’ll help me and do video on me and work to help me becoming a better through the season.
“He’s the same now as he was when I was a kid, taking slapshots at kids’ heads and giving them a hard time if they miss passes.
“He hasn’t changed so I’m looking forward to the coaching side and the development and while I know he’ll be hard on his players.
“Sometimes you need the kick up the butt to deliver.”
